Are You Ready to Get Started?

Howdy! We’re glad you stopped in to learn about the Amazing Young Living Premium Starter Kit, affectionately known as the PSK. Not only are you getting nearly 50% off the cost of the items individually, you’re getting a balanced wellness kit to help you achieve your and your family’s wellness goals.

For the purposes of this class, I’m going to use the PSK with Dewdrop diffuser and a cost of $160, but the Rainstone and Aria diffusers are gorgeous works of art, and I highly recommend them if they are in your budget.

An Introduction to Essential Oils

What are essential oils? Essential oils have been used for thousands of years for cosmetic purposes as well as for their spiritually and emotionally uplifting properties. They are distilled or pressed from plants.

The primary method of extraction is careful steam distillation, but cold pressing is also used.

Genuine essential oils exhibit certain characteristics. They can quickly penetrate the tissues of the skin. They contain some of the most powerful antioxidants (as determined by the ORAC test developed at Tufts University). Essential oils contain many constituents, including sesquiterpenes, which have the ability to pass the blood-brain barrier.

Yeah, I just used a dollar and a quarter word there. Sorry about that. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. Products, ideas, and techniques mentioned are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Essential oils can benefit the body in a variety of ways. They can enhance mood, support overall wellness and well-being, maintain, healthy body systems, promote relaxation, and more.

What are Essential Oils?Young Living’s Seed-to-Seal guarantee has been crucial for me. I’d heard about essential oils for several years before joining Young Living, but I was uncomfortable with the idea of breathing them in or putting them on my skin until I learned more about them.

Young Living, to ensure they are able to control the complete process from seed to seal, owns a number of farms and works in partnership with a number of others to ensure they know what goes into every product they sell.

Seed-to-Seal* This slide is out-dated, and I don’t have access to a new one yet. Young Living has modified Seed-to-Seal to be a three pillar process of Sourcing, Science, and Standards. It’s a subtle but significant change from the previous five pillar approach.

Young Living has a Scientific Advisory Council. This professional organization comprises prominent scientific professionals from around the world, uniting years of experience in natural products. The council’s unmatched leadership, expertise, and passion for essential oil innovation redefines the way the world thinks about wellness. Get to know the council members here: youngliving.com/ScientificAdvisoryCouncil

Scientific Advisory CouncilYou can use essential oils in one of three ways, aromatically, topically, and internally. Check the label on your specific oil to see how it should be used. Young Living makes this easy — Vitality oils (white label) are all labeled for internal use. Other label colors are for labeled topical and aromatic use.

Vitality oils can be added to a veggie capsule and swallowed, can be dropped into water or smoothies, or, they can be added to food. A word of caution, they are potent, so start with less and go from there. I have heard dipping a toothpick into oregano and then dipping that into something you’re cooking can be enough oil. (Yikes!) In most cases, begin with a drop or two and add from there. For instance, I love peppermint vitality in my hot chocolate. Two, maybe three drops is plenty. More than that? You may not enjoy your cocoa as much as you hope. It’s just too much.

3 Ways to Use OilsTopical use involves applying oils to your skin. Again, less is the place to start. Keep a carrier oil nearby to dilute if necessary. What’s a carrier oil? Young Living’s V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex, vegetable oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, coconut oil, or avocado oil are all good options. There are more. If you feel a burning from accidentally getting too much oil on you, dilute with a carrier oil. If you happen to get an oil in your eyes or other sensitive membrane areas, put the carrier oil around the eyelid to draw the oil away.

Additionally, citrus-based oils can cause a temporary photo-sensitivity, so protect your skin if you go into the sun after applying a citrus oil. Always follow the label’s dilution instructions. Usually, 2-3 drops of an oil are all you need.

Lastly, you can use oils aromatically. Many people prefer an electrostatic diffuser, but did you know many everyday items in your home can be diffusers? Put a few drops of oil inside your toilet paper roll. Tape a cotton ball over an air vent. Wear your oils like perfume. Get some dryer balls and add your favorite oil. I use Abundance and Joy.

Inhale from the bottle. Rub 2-3 drops of essential oil between your palms and inhale (I like this one). Add a few drops to a bowl of hot water and cover your head and bowl with a towel. Breathe deeply and slowly. What’s the advice? Start with fewer drops and increase if necessary. Usually, 2-3 are plenty.

Remember, I mentioned Vitality oils, labeled for internal use? I believe Young Living is the only essential oil company labeling oils for internal use (but the industry changes rapidly, so I could be wrong). The white Vitality label is a dietary supplement labeled for internal use. The colored label is for topical or aromatic use. It’s the same quality essential oil in each bottle.

Vitality OilsYou can diffuse peppermint for a stimulating and energizing scent when focus and concentration are required. Drop or roll some on the back of your neck for a cooling effect after exercise, yard work, or strenuous activity. Dilute with a carrier oil if you experience any skin sensitivity. Did you know Peppermint is a key ingredient in Young Living’s popular Satin Facial Scrub? It’s a water-based exfoliant (and one of my favorite skin care products).

You can put a drop or two into a capsule with a carrier oil to keep your digestive tract efficient or add to an herbal tea to help soothe an occasional upset stomach (these statements have not been evaluated b the FDA. Products, ideas, and techniques mentioned are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease). If you don’t have a capsule, just place a drop or two under your tongue. Place a drop on your thumb and press it to the roof of your mouth to curb the desire to snack.

For recipes requiring peppermint extract, substitute 1/8 teaspoon of Young Living Peppermint oil per teaspoon of peppermint extract, adding one additional drop at a time until satisfied.

PeppermintDiffuse lavender for a calming and comforting scent. Unwind by adding a few drops to Epsom salts for a relaxing nighttime bath. Add a carrier oil and apply to skin to soothe and promote relaxation prior to bedtime.

Add it to your favorite shampoo, lotion, or skin care products. Add 2-3 drops to your natural deodorant for a fresh and floral lavender scent.

Add two drops each of Lavender Vitality to a capsule with 2 drops each of Lemon Vitality, Peppermint Vitality, and a vegetable-based carrier oil. Or simply place one drop under your tongue or inside a cheek. Add a drop to lemonade, water, or tea for a refreshing drink. For any recipes calling for lavender flavor, add Lavender Vitality.

Like Do-It-Yourself? Add lavender essential oil to wool dryer balls, mascara, or face and body creams. You can create your own linen spray, bath salts, or baby lotion.

LavenderLemon diffuses a fresh, clean, and uplifting citrus scent. Use it directly to easily remove sticky residue or add to a natural household cleaner. Apply to tough laundry stains directly or add to laundry detergent to brighten whites. Add lemon oil to a soft cloth to help polish tarnished silver and jewelry. It includes the naturally occurring constituent limonene.

Place two drops in a vegetable capsule with a carrier oil up to three times daily. Add 1-2 drops to your drinking water or favorite drink (glass only). Use to add flavor to savory foods like fish and chicken or sweet foods like pastries and cakes. For recipes calling for lemon zest or juice, substitute one drop of Lemon Vitality for a convenient alternative.

Lemon oil is made by cold-pressing the peel, not the inner fruit. The peel is the most nutrient dense portion of the lemon.

LemonApply 2-4 drops of Frankincense to your skin or desired location to help smooth the appearance of healthy -looking skin. Dilution is not required unless skin sensitivity occurs. You can also diffuse or inhale directly to increase spirituality and inner strength, lift mood, and inspire balanced emotions. Frankincense is a key ingredient in many products, including Boswellia Wrinkle Cream, Brain Power, Awaken, Highest Potential, and Forgiveness.

To support your well-being and normal cell health, take Frankincense Vitality internally as a dietary supplement by adding 1-2 drops to a vegetarian gel capsule. Frankincense includes the naturally occurring constituent apha-pinene. Frankincense Vitality is a key ingredient in Young Living’s Longevity supplement, which protects DHA levels. (These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. Products, ideas, and techniques mentioned are not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any disease.)

This oil is steam distilled from the gum or resin of the Boswellia tree.

FrankincensePronounced “Ko-pah-ee-bah,” Copaiba is a key ingredient found in Young Living’s popular Roll-ons: Deep Relief, Breathe Again, and Stress Away. Copaiba is an excellent addition to natural skin care regimens and can be emotionally calming, securing, and grounding when diffused or applied topically. Add 4-6 drops to 1.2 cup Epsom salts and soak in a bath to relax after a strenuous workout.

Copaiba Vitality has a pleasant, complex taste and when taken internally, it can promote wellness. Taken daily as a dietary supplement or mixing 3-4 drops in a teaspoon of honey, it becomes part of a daily health regimen. Copaiba includes the naturally occurring constituents of beta-caryophyllene and alpha-humulene. It may act as an amplifier oils when combined with other essential oils, copaiba may enhance their benefits.

Copaiba resins have been used dating back to the 16th century by the natives of South America.

CopaibaDiGize is a blend containing Tarragon, Ginger, Peppermint, Juniper, Fennel, Lemongrass, Anise, and Patchouli. It includes the naturally occurring constituents of menthol, citron, and zingiberene. To help you wind down after dinner, diffuse DiGize essential oil or apply directly to your wrists or abdomen (for me, it works best over the liver area — right side just below the rib cage). If applying to your abdomen, apply with a circular motion.

The scent of DiGize makes it a perfect fit for diffusing in the cart or to help you or your kids feel calm and well during long rides. FYI, fennel essential oil has been used dating back to ancient Egypt.

When traveling abroad, use DiGize Vitality as a dietary supplement in drinking water. You can combine 2 drops of DiGize Vitality with 1 drop of Peppermint Vitality essential oils in either water or a capsule.

DiGize Vitality is an ideal complement to the nutritional support supplements ComforTone and Essentialzymes-4 which support a healthy digestive system.

DiGizeThieves is like the do-it-all blend. An excellent cleaner and degreaser, Thieves is found in many of Young Living’s Home products, including the popular Thieves Household Cleaner. For topical use, dilute Thieves according to the label instructions and apply to the soles of your feet daily. To create an environment of peace and security, diffuse 2-3 drops. Customize your Thieves experience by adding a few drops of Orange, Tangerine, or Nutmeg essential oil. (Yes, the graphic says 6-8. If you’re new to diffusing, I recommend starting with few drops and adding if you feel you need more.)

Thieves Vitality may contribute to wellness when taken as a dietary supplement. It supports healthy immune function. Thieves ingredients are clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary, which includes the naturally occurring constituents of limonene, eugenol, and eucalyptol.

Eucalyptus Radiata, a key ingredient in Thieves Vitality essential oil blend, supports a healthy respiratory system when taken as a dietary supplement. Add 1 drop of Thieves Vitality and 2 drops of Orange Vitality essential oils to warm apple juice for a homemade cider.

And, of course, these statements have not been evaluated by the FDA, and products, ideas, and techniques mentioned are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

ThievesThese next oils are for topical or aromatic use only. RC’s ingredients are Eucalyptus Globulus, Myrtle, Marjoram, Pine, Eucalyptus Radiata, Eucalyptus Citriodora, Lavender, Cypress, Black Spruce, and Peppermint. It really supports you when you’re not feeling so hot. To do that, dilute 1 drop with 1 drop of a carrier oil and apply to chest, neck, and or throat. Or you can apply two drops to a warm, wet towel as a hot compress or massage it into your chest and throat 2-3 times daily. Alternatively, you can add R.C. to a bowl of hot, steaming water. Then place a towel over your head and inhale the steam from the bowl.

You can rub RC on your feet or chest before exercise or diffuse it at bedtime for a comforting aroma.

PanAway can be applied topically or be used in an Epsom salt bath for a relaxing spa-like atmosphere. You can combine it with a carrier oil and apply to temples, neck, back, or shoulders for a stimulating aromatic experience.

Some people like to add it to whipped coconut oil to create a pleasing balm that can be used after exercising or stretching. Keep PanAway in your gym bag and use it after a workout for a refreshing scent and pleasant cooling sensation. PanAway’s ingredients are Wintergreen, Helichrysum, Clove, and Peppermint. It includes the naturally occurring constituents of methyl salicylate, gamma-curcumene, menthol, and eugenol.

RC and PanAwayPurification contains Citronella, Rosemary, Lemongrass, Lavandin, Melaleuca Alternafolia (Tea Tree), and Myrtle. It includes the naturally occurring constituents of cineol, feral, and geranial. You can add it to a carrier oil to complement a soothing and relaxing foot massage. Add it to Young Living’s Bath and Shower Gel Base or add 4 drops to Epsom salt for a soothing bath.

You can diffuse Purification with Lemon to create a fresh and inviting scent. Add to a cotton ball and place in the bottom of trash cans or diaper pails to neutralize odors. I’ve heard this works well for smelly sneakers, too.

Did you forget to put the laundry in the dryer for too long? Add 2 drops to a wet cloth and put in the clothes dryer to refresh stale, wet laundry.

I’ve saved perhaps the best for last. In today’s stressed out world, we offer Stress Away. Stress Away is the first product to contain the unique stress-relieving combination of lime and vanilla put, therapeutic-grade essential oils. In addition, it contains Copaiba and Lavender to reduce mental rigidity and restore equilibrium. It also includes Ocotea and features powerful plant constituents of cedrol and eugenol. Stress Away can help induce relaxation and reduce occasional nervous tension. No, I’m not suggesting it could diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. The FDA has not evaluated these statements. Just try it.

Purification and StressAwayYou have a lot of beverage options, and many of them contain way too much sugar, calories, and unwanted additives. Opt-in to essential oil-infused Ningxia Red to help support normal energy levels. Ningxia Red is infused with Lemon, Orange, Yuzu, and Tangerine essential oils. It’s a delicious daily supplement that includes juices and extracts from superfruits like aronia, plum, blueberry, and pomegranate. Best of all, it includes the whole-fruit puree of exotic Ningxia Wolfberries.

Drink 2-4 ounces twice a day for maximum benefit. It contains many natural antioxidants and supports normal cellular function, good health, and overall wellness. It supports normal eye health and helps prevent oxidative stress.

Safety is important no matter what you’re doing. Young Living’s essential oils are no exception. I chose Young Living because of its safety, but there are still practices you need to be aware of. Here are a few to help you.

Because everyone’s body is different, always skin test a properly diluted essential oil before using it to test for reactions. Use a small area of skin that is not typically exposed to cosmetics, personal care products, or chemicals.

Essential oils may work against chemicals stored in your skin or fatty tissues and cause a rash or local reaction. If this happens, temporarily discontinue use of oils and determine if you should begin a detoxification program.

SafetyTROUBLESHOOTING:

When you begin to use the oils, go slow! (Remember, fewer drops and diluted drops!) If skin irritation, rash, nausea, headache, or sensitivity occurs, you could be detoxing or simply doing too much, too fast.

If you experience any of these reactions, try the following tips:

1. Add additional carrier oil
2. Reduce the number of oils used at any time
3. Use single oils or blends one at a time
4. Reduce the amount of oil used
5. Reduce the frequency of application
6. Drink more purified water
7. Take an Epsom salt bath

NOTE: Some oils are photosensitive. Avoid direct sunlight and UV rays for at least 12 hours after application to the skin. Photosensitive oils include citrus oils as well as bergamot, angelica, and dill. Always consult the label.

We’ve just gone over the products contained in the Young Living Premium Starter Kit. Please note the Home Diffuser shown in the image is no longer available. These eleven oils as described above, provide a full body system support to enhance your personal wellness and well-being.

Now is a great time to get yourself set up on Essential Rewards (explained blow). There’s a strategy for this, and I’ll share a couple options to consider here.

PSKEach month, Young Living offers bonuses if you place an order of 190, 250, or 300 PV or better. (PV roughly equates to dollars, but not always). Your Premium Starter Kit, no matter what diffuser you select, is worth 100 PV, which gets you close to one of the bonuses. If you sign up for ER, you will earn the 100PV ER bonus for the month.

A lot of people like the PSK for the oils and the diffuser, but they also want to get started on getting their home converted to Thieves products. The Thieves Essential Rewards Kit is perfect for this. This kit has the Thieves Products from the Thieves PSK (below) for 115 PV and $115.

That brings your PV total to 215 (you’ve earned the 100 PV ER bonus, the 190 PV ER bonus, and the 190 PV bonus). That’s pretty great.

Maybe you want more Ningxia Red. A great start is the 30 count 2-ounce box of Ningxia Red for 84.50 PV. That’s a great choice, but wait! That equals 299.50 PV. That’s POINT 5 PV shy of earning the 300 PV bonus for the month. You really don’t want to miss out on that, do you? Add anything to your cart to put you over the 300 PV level to earn full bonuses your very first month to get the full experience. You may or may not be able to afford this every month, but you want to get the experience of all the generosity of this company. You can earn 1/3 to 1/2 again the value of your order free each month by earning all the bonuses. That doesn’t even count the 10-25% back in Essential Rewards points you earn in addition to the free products.

Thieves and NingXia Red PSKEssential Rewards is Young Living’s Loyalty Buyer’s Club. You don’t need another card to carry around in your wallet, and what other loyalty club gives you all this for so little from you.

First, what must you do to get it? You agree to buy at least 50PV in Young Living products every month. This is usually $50 a month — depending on the products you select, it can be more, but for most folks, $50 covers it.

What can you get for that? Anything you want — personal care products, baby care products, nutrition products, essential oils, make up, whatever you want from Young Living’s catalog of over 600 products. Only 200 of those are essential oils, so there are many, many options. After your order processes each month, update your cart for the next month and go about your business.

Okay. That’s what you have to do to get it, but what is IT? Here goes:

– For consecutive months 1-3, you earn 10% back in Essential Rewards Points that can be used to get products for free (you do pay shipping)
– For consecutive months 4-24, you earn 20% back in Essential Rewards Points that can be used to get products for free (you do pay shipping)
– For months 25 and beyond, you earn 25% back in Essential Rewards Points that can be used to get products for free (you do pay shipping)
– Everyone gets slightly reduced shipping rates for their essential rewards orders (savings of a minimum of $1 an order to more, depending upon your shipping option selected)
– There are special bonuses at the 100 PV and 190 PV level each month. In addition to the Essential Rewards points everyone earns, if your order equals 100 PV, you earn a bonus oil. If your order equals 190 PV or more, you earn two bonus oils each month.
– Wait. There’s more! After 3, 6, 9, and 12 consecutive months on the program, you earn a bonus oil. After 12 consecutive months, you’ll earn the exclusive Loyalty oil formulated by Gary Young specifically for essential rewards members. This oil is earned after every 12 consecutive months on the program. It’s the only way to earn it.
– As good as this is, you could still want or need to cancel. How do you do that? Call Customer Service with your member number and PIN and ask to cancel. Easy as that. Restart again at any time with a few clicks in your Virtual Office (you cannot start and stop to get multiple loyalty awards, though. Once you get up to the place you stopped off in the loyalty bonus program, you’ll restart earning awards. And if you have essential rewards points, cash them in before canceling, because they’ll be forfeited if you don’t.).

This program can’t be beaten. I know of no other loyalty program that offers such generous rewards for participating. If you do, please let me know.

What recipe looks most interesting to you?

Here’s a favorite of mine DIY Thieves Soft Scrub:

DIY Thieve Soft ScrubIngredients:
3 cups baking soda (a box and a half — I had half a box that had been in the refrigerator and was old, but I used that up first, which may affect the effectiveness of the baking soda; we’ll see, and if it does, I’ll update to let you know)
3/4 cup Thieves Household Cleaner
1 Tablespoon distilled vinegar
30 drops Young Living Lemon Essential Oil (I don’t need to tell you why we’re using Young Living brand, do I)
Directions:
Measure the Thieves Household Cleaner, distilled vinegar, and Lemon essential oil into a glass mixing bowl (I used a stainless steel one — just don’t use plastic)
Slowly add the baking soda and stir to combine everything. (This is fun to watch the consistency change.)
Once everything is thoroughly mixed, transfer to your desired container — the original author used a honey jar. I used an old pickle jar.
I highly recommend labeling the jar. I used an address label printed on my label printer, but a Sharpie on the glass would probably work just as well — or design a pretty label to make it more attractive. I put the basic ingredient list on my label to make it easier to make the next batch when I need it.
NOTE: Per Young Living Policies and Procedures paragraph 3.13, if you plan to resell this formulation, you may not use Thieves in its name or advertise that Thieves Household Cleaner or Young Living Essential Oil are ingredients. For personal use, this is fine.
