I have a personal story for Thieves Laundry Soap. I bought a bottle. I used maybe 2/3 of it. Both my husband and I complained of what felt like being bitten on the same place on our ankles. I switched back to our old laundry soap, and the biting sensation went away. I wasn’t sure what to do. I wanted to use and like this soap, but not if it “bit” me. I thought I’d been using the right quantity — 1/2 a cap for regular loads and a little more for heavy soiling. I don’t have a high-efficiency washer. Also, it didn’t seem to clean as well as my other detergent. So, I pondered this for several months.

I rethought my strategy. Maybe, despite following the directions, I was using too much. My new strategy has been to use a teeny tiny amount — just covering the bottom of the cap (I estimate it’s about a teaspoon). If I have soiling, I spray the affected area from my spray bottle of Thieves Household Cleaner. This doesn’t work for dried blood. I need to look around for what works for that. Since employing this approach, neither my husband nor I have complained about being “bitten.” I believe the smaller amount has been the answer.

What I may do in the future is to begin diluting with either water or distilled white vinegar (or some combination of the two).
